Reception
At release
- Pitchfork (Stuart Berman): Watt does not try to turn Iggy Pop into something he is not; he gives him room to be every Iggy Pop he wants to be
- Pitchfork: the album runs through a parade of Iggy archetypes, including the profane punk, the seedy underworld Sinatra, the Euro-bound futurist and the lovable curmudgeon
- Pitchfork: Watt treats the album as an Iggy jukebox musical, which Berman says is a shiny, over-the-top, but briskly entertaining celebration of its subject
Reappraisal
- Critical reception: generally positive reviews
- Metacritic average score 79 out of 100, from seven reviews, which indicates 'generally favorable reviews'
- Genres used to describe the music: punk rock, alternative rock, garage punk and spoken word
