Artist
Formation

- Fantasy Records owner Saul Zaentz bought the label in 1967 and offered the band a chance to record an album.

- Stu Cook: bass.

Reception
At release
- Released in 1973 despite John Fogerty's strong objections
- The objections followed his final struggles with Fantasy Records over his songwriting
- Spanish Wikipedia gives the objections as the reason for the release debate and ties them to sound quality
- The album was issued while the band was a trio after Tom Fogerty's exit
Reappraisal
- A budget-priced 1987 reissue on a single LP omitted two songs, "Door to Door" and "Sweet Hitch-Hiker"
- Those two songs were originally recorded by the band as a trio
- The omission was made so the album would fit on one LP
- Live in Europe was later listed in the band's discography as a live album from 1973

Trivia
- In 1973, Fogerty said he would never play a Creedence song again, reasoning that it would only benefit Fantasy Records; he kept that promise for some 20 years.
- The closing side-four track "Keep on Chooglin'" carries an interpolation of "Pagan Baby" at about 4:45 to 6:35.
- The album documents a band that had lost Tom Fogerty and continued as a trio.
- The French and Spanish editions of the track list show differences in running times and song titles.
