Reception
At release
- The tour for the album, called Live in the Flesh, was notorious in Europe in 1988 for graphic violence and theatricality
- The show was seen to be so violent that the German government forced Cooper to remove some of the more graphic parts of the show
- UK MP David Blunkett appealed to have the show banned from the country, but the attempt failed
- Most of the violent acts were heavily inspired by the horror movies of the time, with graphic onstage deaths and large amounts of stage blood
Reappraisal
- Reviews and rankings beyond the tour reception are not given in the source, so the album's standing rests on the tour reaction and chart results

- Billboard 200 peak: 73rd
