EXID is a South Korean girl group formed in 2012, its name an initialism for "Exceed in Dreaming".
Producer Shinsadong Tiger and AB Entertainment scouted several trainees from JYP Entertainment to form the group in May 2011.
The group was originally named "WT", an acronym for "Who's That", and changed its name to EXID a few months before debut.
EXID debuted in February 2012 with the single "Whoz That Girl" from the digital single album Holla.

Current members are Solji, Elly, Hani, Hyelin, and Jeonghwa.
Former members Dami, Yuji, and Haeryung left in 2012 shortly after debut.
Solji was a former member of vocal duo 2NB and joined in 2012, replacing the departed members.

The group broke through in 2014 with "Up & Down", which topped the Gaon Chart after a fan-recorded video of Hani performing the song went viral.
EXID won their first music show trophies with "Up & Down" and later with "Ah Yeah" in 2015.
The group signed with Banana Project and released their first studio album Street in 2016.
EXID expanded to Japan in 2018 and released the Japanese album Trouble in 2019.
In May 2019 the group entered an indefinite hiatus for Korean activities after some members left Banana Culture.
EXID reunited in 2022 for their tenth anniversary, releasing the single "Fire" and the independent album X, and performed Baby Vox's "Get Up" on Immortal Songs 2 in March 2025.
